Anesthesia & Pain Management in Oakdale, MN

Specialized Care for Every Patient

Our goal is simple: to make anesthesia safe and comfortable for every patient. Whether your pet is an exotic species, a senior cat with complex medical needs, or a young healthy dog undergoing a planned procedure, our anesthesia team is trained and equipped to provide expert, compassionate care.

Our Team

Anesthesia and pain control are provided by a dedicated team whose sole focus is the safety and comfort of your pet.

Our team has extensive training and experience managing patients with complex medical conditions, including those who may have had complications with anesthesia in the past. Between our board-certified anesthesiologists (Diplomates ACVAA), veterinary technician specialists (VTS), and licensed veterinary technicians (LVTs), we have decades of focused anesthesia education and experience helping animals through anesthesia!

From arrival to discharge, our team carefully manages the entire continuum of your pet’s anesthetic experience.

Individualized Anesthetic Plans

Every patient is different. Our staff design a custom anesthetic plan for each pet based on their medical history, current health conditions, and the specific procedure.

Dedicated Monitoring and Patient Care

Safe anesthesia depends on constant monitoring and rapid response to changes. We utilize advanced monitoring and support equipment, including:

  • Multiparameter monitoring systems that track vital signs
  • Electrocardiogram (EKG) to monitor heart rate and rhythm
  • Pulse oximeter to measure the oxygen in your pet’s blood
  • Capnograph to measure the rate and size of each breath
  • Temperature monitoring (accompanied by the same warm air devices used in human hospitals) to ensure your pet stays warm during surgery
  • Blood pressure monitoring and management - including both non-invasive and invasive monitoring equipment.
  • Endotracheal tubes to deliver inhalant anesthetics, and to protect your pet from regurgitation and aspiration
  • Mechanical ventilators to support breathing when needed
  • Specialized equipment designed for very small patients, including exotic pets
  • And the most important part of any anesthetic event, a dedicated anesthetist for each patient! This level of monitoring allows our team to detect even small changes and adjust anesthesia immediately.

Pain Management

We take pain seriously.

Our team uses a multimodal approach to pain control, meaning we combine different medications and techniques to provide the most effective relief with the fewest side effects. Our capabilities include:

  • Local and regional nerve blocks, with ultrasound and nerve stimulator guidance
  • Multiple classes of pain medications
  • A specific pain management plan tailored to each patient

This ensures your pet is comfortable not only during their procedure, but also throughout recovery, allowing them to wake up as calm and alert as possible.
